Frequently Asked questions.

Can I speak to a doctor before booking an appointment?

Yes, contact us anytime to set up a free 15 minute phone consultation. Please click on the “Contact” button at the top of the page.

How do I schedule my appointment?

You may schedule your appointment through PT Everywhere, please use this link: https://pteverywhere.com/PtE/strideptw/bookingonline

What should I expect at my first and subsequent sessions?

Your first session will consist of a thorough evaluation of gait and functional movement, hands on treatment, movement corrections, education on findings, and strategies to help you independently mange your pain or begin correcting movement discrepancies.

Follow up sessions are booked on an as needed basis and focus on appropriate treatment designed to help you achieve your goals. May include manual therapy, balance and gait training, exercise to correct movement discrepancies, and patient education and home program instructions.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

You do not. Massachusetts is a direct access state, meaning you do not need a referral to begin physical therapy. Our doctors are trained in differential diagnosis and may refer you to an appropriate provider if symptoms are outside the scope of physical therapy care.

How long is my appointment and how often will I come to PT?

Your initial sessions will be about one hour long. Frequency and duration of follow up sessions will be established based on progress but are typically 45-60 minutes. Follow up frequency varies between 1-2 times a week to every few months depending on patient needs and goals.

What if I cancel or no show?

As a courtesy to the therapist and other patients seeking treatment, a 24 hour cancellation notice is required. This allows others on our waiting list to be seen. No-shows or late cancels may be charged the full cost of the service.

Do you take health insurance?

Stride Physical Therapy & Wellness is an Out-of-Network (OON) provider for all commercial insurances. This means that we are a private pay clinic and do not directly bill health insurance companies. Many insurance companies will reimburse you for out of network services. You will be provided with appropriate documentation should you choose to apply for reimbursement.

Disclaimer: Stride Physical Therapy & Wellness provides the required documentation, but is not responsible for reimbursement processing. Insurance companies reimburse patients according to their out-of-network benefits.

What does private pay mean and will it end up costing me more?

The private pay billing model means that Stride Physical Therapy & Wellness does not directly bill your insurance companies. Instead, the patient is required to pay the provider directly and may apply for reimbursement to their health care provider if they choose to. This model allows clinicians to treat patients as we see appropriate without being dictated by insurance coverage rules. Insurance payouts for physical therapy services cause clinics to limit patient appointments to 30 minutes or less, and often to double book and overlap appointments. This situation can negatively  affect patient care, and possibly lead to a greater number of appointments needed to reach set goals.

The private pay model guarantees the patient with a 60 minute one on one session with their provider, less wait time between appointments, and often shorter course of care due to more dedicated treatment time. Between co-pays, deductibles, and visit capacities, private pay physical therapy clinics typically end up costing the patient less money than the traditional models. Please contact Stride Physical Therapy & Wellness if you have follow up questions regarding our payment model.

How do I pay for my treatment?

Payment in the form of cash, check, or credit card is required at time of service. Health Care Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts are accepted.
